There are plenty of things that you can do in Tallinn if you travel with children.

Maritime museum (Meremuuseum)
Fat Margareta also known as Pikk 70, Old Town harbour side fortress. Tel: 641 1408, open 10-18, closed Monday-Tuesday. Tickets cost 10kr.
Maritime museum is full of historical artefacts and miniatures of ships are interesting especially for children. The whole building is also interesting place to see, because it has been a jail and city’s guarding tower.

Old Town
For children the Old Town itself is a marvellous place to see. Olev church tower is opened for public and from the top you can see much more of Tallinn, than from the ground. Tickets cost 25kr.

Toomas train is a happy, little tourist train that makes a 20-minute circuit through the streets of Old Town. Departures are from Kuniga street and Kullassepa street. It operates from June till September 12:00 - 17:00, Sunday 11:00 - 18:00, on weather reservation. Ride costs 60kr for adults and 30kr for the kids.

Rocca al mare

Open air museum Rocca al Mare (Vabaöhumuseum)
Vabaöhumuuseumi tee 12, tel: 656 0230, take bus number 21 from central railway station (Balti jaam). Open in summertime daily 10-20, wintertime 10-17. Tickets cost 25kr for an adult, and about half of that for the children.

Here you get to know old Estonian agricultural artefacts, taste Estonian delicacies and take a horse ride.

Rocca al Mare funfair

Paldiski maantee 100, situated about one kilometre from open air museum. Open in summertime Monday-Friday 12-20 and Saturday-Sunday 11-20. Tickets cost about 10 euros.

There are two funfairs in Tallinn, but Rocca al Mares funfair is better.

Adventure park Nõmme

Nõmme adventure park has different paths for adults and for children. Path for adults is situated high in the trees and offers challenge for balance and agility. Path for children is situated lower and adults can walk near when the child is on the path. Tickets cost: adults from 14 euros, youth 10 euros, small children 3,80 euros and seniors 10 euros.

Tallinn zoo

Paldiski maantee 145, (about 8 km from city centre), tel: 694 3300, you will get there with trolley bus number 6 from Kaubamaja, or with bus number 21 or trolley bus number 7 from central railway station (Balti jaam). Open 9-19 summer, and 9-15 winter. Family ticket cost 82kr.

There are about 400 animal species, and total of 5000 animals in Tallinn zoo. You can see also exotic animals like elephants and hyenas. For children the absolute highlight of the whole zoo is children’s zoo. There you can walk among goats, rabbits and other small animals. This zoo is part of the bigger zoo, but it’s open only in summertime, Wednesday-Sunday 10-16.

Outdoor Karting is situated near Tallinn zoo and it’s great place for children and adults. Besides karting, here you can find also paint ball.

Children's Museum

This museum is a treasure trove of dolls, antique and modern.
The rarest item in the collection is a 250-year-old doll from Holland.

KalevSpa is a modern water park which is situated in the heart of Tallinn. Here you can find Estonians biggest 50 meter long swimming pool, jacuzzi’s, aerobic pools, pools for children and slides. There is traditional sauna and also steam saunas.

Theme Park for whole family. There you can find for example bouncy castle, trampoline, indian village, karting, legoland, arcade, swimming pools and slides, minigolf etc.

Estonian State Puppet Theatre

Estonian State Puppet Theatre was founded in 1952. It was the first theatre for children in Estonia.
In the early years the puppeteer was hiding behind the screen. Nowadays the theatre and working methods are developing very rapidly and they are open for different experiments.

The theatre building is located in the Old Town of Tallinn and has four halls: Main Hall (180-240 seats), Oval Hall (77-100 seats), Middle Hall (56-70 seats) and Fireplace Hall (25-35 seats). Performances are also played at theatre’s summer yard, on various customized stages and in open air all over Estonia. The Puppet Theatre has actively participated at various regional and international festivals and brought home many awards.
